Welcome to Kaya Arts!
All artworks are genuine and original handmade with real flowers.
We love the nature around us, from tiny bugs to big blossoms. All our flowers are organically home-grown and hand-cured with various techniques.
HANDMADE WITH LOVE
All items are carefully handmade in our Camden Town studio. We use natural resin to preserve botanical elements. We use different techniques of drying and setting to preserve flowers, fruit, and other natural materials. We also like to add 24k gold leaf, silver, or rose gold leaf to give the items a contrast and subtle shine. Each item is unique as the flower it contains.
SPECIALISING IN FLOWERS
There are many types of flowers in the world, and we grow and work with 60-100 of them, depending on the season. Growing the flowers allows us to colour and pick them at the right time for stunning results. It allows us to control the size, colour, and quality of the flowers. After the drying and curing process, which takes 2-3 weeks (depending on the flower), the flower is ready to be set in eco-friendly resin. Again, depending on the flower and setting, it takes 2-6 weeks to complete and allowing the item to be cured. We finishing off our product with 925 sterling silver findings.
Floriography is a way of cryptic communication through the use or arrangement of flowers. Meaning as attributed to flowers for thousands of years, and some form of floriography has been practiced in traditional cultures throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Interest in floriography soared in Victorian England and in the United States during the 19th century. Gifts of blooms, plants, and specific floral arrangements were used to send a coded message to the recipient, allowing the sender to express feelings that could not be spoken aloud in Victorian society. Armed with floral dictionaries, Victorians often exchanged small “talking bouquets”, called nosegays or tussie-mussies, which could be worn or carried as a fashion accessory.
